STAutoTables is a solution with an algorithm that improves quality of OCR data captured from tables and allows capture of multiple tables.
Several Document Capture solutions require the capture of data from documents consisting of multiple tables and tables with complex layouts from semi-structured documents. Traditional solutions have involved the creation of hundreds of templates to allow for configuration of capture from each variant. This is not only a huge development effort and cost, but is also very difficult to maintain.
STAutoTables complements the OCR capabilities of Intelligent Capture to allow for capture of data in tabular format.
The algorithm in STAutoTables intelligently processes full-page OCR data. With minimal configuration to define columns to be captured - header label information and expected formats of the column data, STAutoTables dynamically parses out the data into rows and columns. The Auto detect feature automatically detects tables on documents across pages and parses them out without any configuration.
The document types designed in Intelligent Capture can then be linked with a profile in STAutoTables to normalize the tables to standard format for export.
Irrespective of the position of the table on the page, STAutoTables can intelligently identify the table. It can also identify multiple tables on a page and can capture tabular data when the table ranges across pages. STAutoTables can handle variations in the table column headings as well as variations in the column orders.
STAutoTablesDesigner is the designer tool that allows configuration of basic rules for capture of table data where one can define the columns to be captured and the column data formats.
Once the tabular data is parsed out, custom code can be written to format as well as re-arrange the data in the required columns. Metadata relating to the data position as well as field and character confidences is also available post recognition.
